Getting started
- Buy a license — your key is emailed automatically within seconds of checkout.
- Download the installer for your platform from the Downloads page.
- Install and launch the app, then enter your license key on the activation screen.
- Set your backup folder and interval — auto-backup starts on the next scheduled run.
- Connect a cloud provider (optional) from the Cloud Manager page for Google Drive or Dropbox sync.
Troubleshooting
Resolve Vault won't connect to DaVinci Resolve
Make sure DaVinci Resolve is open, and check Resolve → Preferences → System → General → "External scripting using" is set to Local (not Off). This setting only exists in DaVinci Resolve Studio — the free version doesn't support it. On Windows, make sure you're on the latest installer build — an earlier build's connection issue was fixed by bundling a real Python installer the scripting bridge depends on.
Google Drive or Dropbox won't connect
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the provider from the Cloud Manager page. If the browser window doesn't open, check that your default browser is set and not blocked by another window. If you were previously stuck on a Google sign-in error, update to the latest build — this was fixed.
"Auto Backup" status looks wrong
The status only shows green/"Running" while Resolve Vault has an active connection to DaVinci Resolve. If Resolve is closed or disconnected, it should show an amber "Waiting for DaVinci Resolve" state — if you see a stale green status while Resolve is closed, update to the latest build.
Windows Firewall blocked a connection
If you previously dismissed a Windows Firewall prompt, use the one-click Firewall fix in Resolve Vault's Auto Fix tools instead of reinstalling.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between plans?
Standard is local backups only. Pro adds Google Drive and Dropbox cloud sync, plus cloud storage stats on the dashboard.
Is this a subscription?
No. Both are one-time payments. All v1.x updates are included at no extra cost.
Which platforms are supported?
macOS 12 (Monterey) or later on Apple Silicon, and Windows 10/11 64-bit. Linux support is in development — see the Downloads page for the latest status.
Does this work with the free version of DaVinci Resolve?
No — Resolve Vault requires DaVinci Resolve Studio. Blackmagic Design only enables the scripting API that Resolve Vault relies on in the paid Studio edition, not the free version.
Can I upgrade Standard to Pro?
Yes. Email us and we'll apply an upgrade discount — you pay only the difference between plans.
How many devices can I activate?
1 device per license. You can deactivate from the Account page inside the app and re-activate on a new machine.
What's your refund policy?
We offer refunds within 14 days if the app doesn't work on your system. See the full refund policy.
